Phil Simmons reappointed West Indies head coach

Phil Simmons has been reappointed three decades after he was controversially sacked in the place.
The 56-year-old prior opening batsman previously held the role in 2015-16, with the Windies winning the ICC World T20 under Simmons until he was released due todifferences in society and strategic strategy.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) had drawn up a shortlist of applicants including Simmons, former batsman Desmond Haynes and Floyd Reifer, who oversaw West Indies disappointing World Cup campaign in England as interim coach.
Simmons, who also led Ireland until 2015 from 2007 and recently coached Afghanistan, will return to the role.
A Cricket West Indies tweet CWI appoints Phil Simmons as new head coach of West Indies senior mens team.
West Indies confront Afghanistan in six limited-overs matches plus a one-off Evaluation in November, with the string to be staged in India, where Windies will remain for a white-ball tour of the host country in December.
