Mauricio Pochettino states Kieran Trippier attempted to contact him to explain he believed his words had been”twisted” while on international duty, when he seemed to reestablish the club’s handling of his death.
The England right-back claimed last week that he”did not really get a response” when he asked the chairman Daniel Levy regarding his future in the summer, before a #22m switch to Atletico Madrid.
Pochettino revealed Trippier delivered a text this week to him but he didn’t receive it after numbers, leaving Harry Kane to pass from international duty.
The Spurs boss explained:”I did not find [Trippier’s comments], but I heard about it. I am able to explain how I am feeling. We had a dialogue where he explained he went to go to Atletico Madrid – nothing more.
“Yesterday (Wednesday) when Harry Kane came back he said to me’did you get Kieran’s text?”’ I said’no’ because my number changed. Maybe because he doesn’t have the new number.
“Because he believe his words were twisted – I don’t know nothing longer. This message was interpreted by kieran throughout Harry Kane . He wanted to inform me. But I’ve got no problem.
“In football decisions happen and gamers move from 1 club to another. What happenedhappened and we need to move on and he wants to think of Atletico Madrid and be content there.
“There is no point to speak about if something happened or did not happen. The fact is who’s in all this process, although one simple fact? There is no point in talking. But I keep very good memories from him.”
“Following the summer that he came to visit me, he asked me for a meeting and said’gaffer, I believe I’ve a good possibility and also for different reasons I’d like to take the offer in Atletico Madrid’.
“He didn’t ask me nothing – only hauled whether the team were planning to accept the deal. Nothing more.
“It wasn’t a dialogue – you want me? Or you don’t want me? It was clear. He performed the final, once I had plenty of options, with Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez. But he played with the final. My actions talk over my mouth.”
